Our indoor LED screen range covers P1.2, P1.53, P1.86 and P2.5. Pixel pitch is the distance in millimetres between the centres of two adjacent LEDs, and on any LED panel screen indoor installation it is the single specification that determines how close a viewer can stand before the individual LEDs separate.

Minimum viewing distance in metres is roughly equal to the pitch in millimetres. Optimal viewing distance is that figure multiplied by two to three. Both matter: below the minimum the image visibly breaks into dots, and beyond the optimal range you are paying for resolution nobody can resolve.

What is the optimal viewing distance for an LED wall?

Two figures matter. The minimum viewing distance in metres is roughly equal to the pixel pitch in millimetres, and closer than that the individual LEDs become visible as separate dots. The optimal viewing distance is that figure multiplied by two to three. So a P2.5 screen has a minimum of about 2.5 metres and reads best from 5 to 7.5 metres, while a P10 outdoor screen has a minimum of about 10 metres and reads best from 20 to 30 metres.

What is the pixel pitch of the LED Screen?

Pixel pitch is the center-to-center distance between adjacent pixels, measured in millimeters. Simply put, it indicates the gap between the pixels of the LED display. A smaller pixel pitch indicates less space between pixels and a higher pixel count, which leads to improved resolution and higher image quality. The figure below shows the pixel pitch for a high-resolution SMD LED module and a high-resolution DIP LED module.

What is the effect of pixel pitch size on image quality?

For most LED wall applications, 1080p resolution can be achieved using standard pixel pitch and viewing distance guidelines. A lower pixel pitch is recommended for higher resolution. However, the image quality and content you render on the LED wall are important considerations.

Which pixel pitch do I need for my room?

Measure the distance from the screen to where people will actually stand or sit, then match it to the table above. A boardroom where viewers sit three metres away suits P1.53 or P1.86. A ballroom where the nearest guest is eight metres back is well served by P2.5, and a finer pitch there is money spent on detail nobody will see. Ambient light and content type shift the answer, which is why we confirm it on site.
